History (1981-1985)
TransNav was incorporated in 1981 a subsidiary of Montreal, Canada based FedNav, a leading provider of cargo transport and management services. We began operations in Detroit, Michigan primarily to identify and initiate import/export activities for industrial and wholesale items. In 1983 TransNav Inc. USA was purchased from FedNav and began operations in St. Clair Shores, Michigan under the ownership of the Vreeken family. Initially TransNav Inc. USA began importing injection molds, ceramic housewares, tile and textile goods from southern Europe and thread cutting tools from South America. In 1984 a relationship formed with several mold-makers in Marinha Grande, Portugal to design tools and build injection molds for the U.S. market. In 1986 TransNav formed Intertecmo, Lda in Moita, Portugal to design and manage local injection mold building programs.
History (1986-1995)
In 1986 TransNav moved offices to Mt. Clemens, Michigan to meet growing needs and created Technical Logistics International to handle commercial matters related to a Lockheed/Portuguese export credit program. In 1989 TransNav Inc. USA moved to larger offices in Mt. Clemens, Michigan as mold sales continued to grow. In 1991 the Vreeken family created TransNav Technologies Inc, USA and began molding activities in a new facility in Clinton Twp, Michigan. The first molding machine was purchased. Tooling maintenance was later added to support TransNav Inc. USA mold building activities. In 1991 a partnership was formed with Feinwerktecknik of Austria which later became H-B Plastics of Korneuburg, Austria to serve European customers and promote plastic speaker grille molding technology in the U.S. In 1992 TransNav Inc. USA personnel were consolidated into the Clinton Twp. molding facility. In 1995 TransNav Group moved the entire operation to New Baltimore, Michigan in a combined (larger) molding/assembly and tooling operation.
History (1996-2007)
In 1998 TransNav Mexico was created in Puebla, Mexico and began molding operations primarily for Volkswagen de Mexico in the Finsa Industrial Park. In 1998 TransNav Inc. USA added their design staff and associated soft/hardware. In 1999 TransNav formed an exclusive partnership with Hornschuch AG of Weissbach, Germany to provide artificial leather roll goods for the North American automotive market. In 2001 Intertecmo, Lda. ceased operations. Molds were managed directly from Michigan. In 2001 TransNav Technologies, Inc moved into the present day facility for molding and assembly operations. In 2002 TransNav Mexico moved into a newly constructed and owned facility located in Cuautlancingo, Puebla. In 2005 TransNav Group. USA formed their manufacturing relationship with Hayco/Forson, Ltd in Hong Kong and mainland China.
History (2008 - now)
In 2008, TransNav purchased Cricklewood Blvd facilities to consolidate distribution and open capacity for large press molding and tool making. TransNav Mexico took possession of a new 3300 ton molding machine and completed a building expansion.
